With constant changes in the domestic transportation industry, it is clear that Congress has established intent to allow the free marketing of services for truckload traffic. This increased flexibility is geared toward allowing users to get product to markets at the most advantageous and economic rate possible in order to make domestic processes as competitive as possible against foreign markets.
Towards this purpose, MidWest Logistics, Inc. has geared itself to electronic collection of legal, licensed and properly insured contract carriers; the processing and analysis of these companies and the daily tracking of equipment for on-the-spot capacity at the best rates.
To protect the interests of all concerned, we have established a rate confirmation procedure with all carriers, making the spot market rate part of our contract with all carriers. |

To establish rates, we currently put them together using a point-to-point format. We have established point-to-point costs in our primary lanes and base all of our quotes on these.
We use the following criteria to establish our rates:
At least day ahead notice for a pickup
Live load and unload
No handling
No pallet exchange
Transit times based on a single driver with times compliant with DOT legal hours of service.
Any changes to these basic criteria could have an economic impact on our basic costs, which could effect the rates we must charge. |
